  • the most talked about innovation in orthodontics for the last 15 years.

Clear Aligner therapy has been the most talked about innovation in orthodontics for the last 15 years. Invisalign® is the most advanced and well known clear aligner system in the World. Define Clinic offer a range of exceptional orthodontic and cosmetic dentistry treatment options, to ensure you can achieve the best results, and make the most of your natural smile. We choose to work with only the very best clear brace systems.

Dr Hughes has personally been using the Invisalign® system for over 15 years and has a wealth of experience in its applications. He has been a Platinum provider for over a decade and is a speaker and key opinion leader for Invisalign®. The range of braces available with Invisalign® are acclaimed as they are unfixed and can be removed, reducing lots of the difficulty that can accompany traditional metal braces, such as discomfort from the brackets and wires, difficulty in cleaning your teeth and needing to restrict your diet to accomodate what can and cannot interact with the brace when it has been affixed.

Invisalign® braces

Invisalign® braces are made of clear plastic aligners with a patented plastic, that are incredibly discreet and comfortable, featuring no brackets or wires that could irritate your mouth. Used for mild to moderate teeth alignment, Invisalign® braces gradually guide teeth into the desired position, using a sequence of custom-designed aligners that are replaced every 1 to 2 weeks. Each aligner moves your teeth up to a quarter of a millimetre per week and they control the position delivered to specific teeth in each step.

Invisalign® is the most advanced clear aligner system in the world, and here at Define Clinic, we are committed to providing our patients with only the most cutting-edge, effective solutions to their dental problems. Invisalign® are constantly developing new technologies to help further promote dental innovation, and even allow patients to preview their new smile before treatment has even begun using their ClinCheck® technology. An iTero® scanner, which we have two of at Define Clinic, is utilised to create fast, accurate 3D images of the teeth that are used as a to digitally map the entire Invisalign® journey step by step, creating a precise treatment plan that’s bespoke to each patient. This helps us accurately predict the movement of the teeth at each stage of treatment so you know exactly what to expect.

Our selection of treatments enables our experts to work with you to choose the most beneficial method within your bespoke treatment plan for correcting concerns, using multiple methods in conjunction with each other when necessary. Invisalign can often be used prior to other cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as cosmetic bonding and tooth whitening. This process is called Align, Bleach and Bond. Very often some tooth alignment with Invisalign is used for several months only before applying porcelain veneers, to ensure the bite is good and that the veneers last as long as possible.

We offer a variety of cosmetic braces to cater to different dental requirements, client personal preferences and budgets, to treat concerns relating to the improvement of your bite, your teeth symmetry, and your overall oral health and appearance – and these include the renowned Invisalign® ranges and we are proud to be a leading provider in the UK for Invisalign.

Despite their unfixed nature, Invisalign® braces can be just as effective for achieving your desired results as traditional braces or for aligning your teeth before some cosmetic dentistry. Dr Mark Hughes or his Invisalign dentists and Orthodontists at Define Clinic with their years of experience in using the Invisalign ™ system can help you achieve excellent results.

Frequently asked questions

Invisalign® braces are custom-made using unique SmartTrack material, designed to fit snugly to the teeth and to move them gradually over a period of time, and because of their personalisable nature, can be used to treat a host of dental concerns. This includes spacing issues, such as gapped teeth or overcrowding, as well as bite correction in the case of deep bites, open bites, underbites and crossbites. Invisalign® can even be used to treat singular teeth, even rotating where needed.
Invisalign is available in a multitude of removable brace ranges to accommodate different physical requirements and ages. Invisalign Teen is an option for younger patients, ensuring that older children are not held back with their food choices or in the pursuit of particular hobbies, such as playing contact sports, or wind instruments. Invisalign Lite is available as a short-term realignment solution for the swift and mild correction of concerns with the front teeth.
Your dental or healthcare insurance may cover Invisalign®, but even if it doesn’t, it can still be far more affordable than most people assume. The exact cost varies depending on the complexity of your case, but is usually in the region of £2500-£5000. At Define Clinic, we offer free initial consultations for patients considering Invisalign®, and free scanning where required, helping you keep costs down for a way to fix your smile that won’t break the bank.
Invisalign® braces are virtually invisible due to the face they are made of clear plastic, and can be easily removed from the mouth - and so people will likely only know you use them if you tell them! Your aligners will be trimmed to your exact gumline, allowing for comfortable, indetectable wear for the recommended 22 hours a day.
Treatment duration varies depending on what we are trying to correct. It can be as little as a few months or several years. The length of time that your braces will require for results will depend on your own personal orthodontic situation and requirements, which will be established during the creation of your tailored treatment plan with one of our Invisalign experts. In many cases Invisalign® braces take far less than traditional fixed braces. Sometimes they might take longer than traditional fixed braces due to the nature of their application; the compliance of the patient is crucial to the success of the system! Fixed braces are controlled by the orthodontist, Invisalign is controlled by the patient. The full Invisalign® and Invisalign® Teen ranges can be used anywhere from six to twenty four months on average for optimum results, while the Invisalign® Lite range for mild realignment to front teeth can take five to eight months.
While requiring gum health maintenance similar to traditional braces (see a hygienist every 3 months) due to the nature of how they are used, Invisalign® braces are very straightforward to clean as they are unfixed, and can be removed for brushing and flossing. Visits required to see us during your treatment are far fewer than with fixed braces, as the aligners do all the work and you as the patient ensure they are being worn properly. There are no wires to be changed! We on average need to see you every 8 to 12 weeks to supervise you and check on your treatment progress but this can vary from person to person. Our team will provide comprehensive advice for how to keep your Invisalign® braces clean during your consultation, and will also be available once you are using your new braces as you progress through your teeth alignment journey, to address any concerns you may have.
