What Are Fine Lines & Facial Wrinkles?
Fine lines are the earliest and often faintest signs of ageing, typically forming in areas of repeated movement such as around the eyes and mouth. As the skin loses elasticity, collagen and volume over time, these fine lines may deepen into more permanent facial wrinkles, which can appear on the forehead, around the eyes, between the brows or across the lower face. Although ageing is the primary driver of facial wrinkles, a number of internal and external factors contribute to how and when they develop. Repeated muscle movement through natural expressions such as smiling, blinking or frowning can lead to what we refer to as dynamic wrinkles, which are lines that appear during expression but eventually become visible at rest. FAQs
Are dynamic and static facial wrinkles treated differently?
Dynamic lines caused by expression may respond best to injectable relaxation treatments or collagen-boosting therapies, while static lines often benefit from resurfacing, volume restoration and biostimulation. At Define Clinic, treatment is always tailored to the specific type of wrinkle rather than a single, one-size-fits-all approach.
Do I need both injectables and skin resurfacing for facial wrinkles?
Not always — but many clients do benefit from a combination. Your practitioner will only recommend combination treatment if it delivers a better and more natural long-term result for your facial wrinkles.
How long do results from these treatments last?
It depends on the treatment. Anti-wrinkle injections typically last 3–4 months, dermal fillers can last 9–18 months, and biostimulators and laser treatments may continue improving the skin for up to a year or more. A personalised maintenance schedule ensures that results are long-lasting and look natural.
Are these treatments painful?
Most treatments involve minimal discomfort. Fine needles, numbing cream or integrated cooling make injectables and resurfacing treatments well-tolerated. Your practitioner will discuss comfort options in advance so the experience is as easy as possible.

Dr Arreni was incredibly warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to. What really stood out was how thoughtfully she talked me through my options. I heard of Define Clinic through my workplace after they came and introduced their new clinic opening in Fitzrovia. I’ve always been interested in aesthetics and injectables but I find the market so oversaturated and it’s almost impossible to find a practitioner that you can trust and for the right price too.
I had my initial consultation with Dr Arreni for hyperpigmentation and under eye hollowness and she had a thorough chat with me about my skin goals and what she would suggest. We did a skin scan and she made a treatment plan for me which was emailed with pricing. The clinic also offers 0% financing which was great. I never felt like I was being pushed to buy anything and she was honest about expectations and told me what I would see with what treatment I would get. I decided to start with tear trough filler as that was my biggest concern and my appointment with Dr Arreni was smooth and pain free. She was extremely friendly and kind and made me feel at ease and I am overjoyed with the result. I feel like I can really trust her and her expertise as a skilled doctor and I will most likely keep this as my clinic of choice for all other treatments I would want in the future.
