Dermatology consultations start from £200. Fees are non-refundable and separate from treatment costs.
Book a Mole CheckWhy Patients Prefer Define Clinic in Beaconsfield
Proper Assessment First
We do not remove moles without first understanding what they are. Every patient has a proper clinical assessment before any procedure is discussed. Your clinician uses dermoscopy and takes a full history before advising on next steps.
All Removed Tissue Is Tested
All moles surgically removed at Define Clinic Beaconsfield are sent to a laboratory for analysis. You receive written confirmation of findings and whether removal was complete.
The Right Method for Your Mole
The removal method is chosen based on the type, size, location, and clinical presentation of your mole. Your clinician will explain the recommended approach at the consultation.
Accessible Location
Our Beaconsfield clinic is easily accessible from the M40, the Chiltern Line, and across South Bucks, Hertfordshire, and the Thames Valley.
Signs Your Mole Needs Checking
Use the ABCDE checklist to monitor your moles at home:
- Asymmetry: one half does not match the other
- Border: edges are irregular, ragged, or blurred
- Colour: more than one shade, or uneven colour
- Diameter: larger than 6mm across
- Evolution: any change in size, shape, colour, or texture
Bleeding, crusting, itching, or a mole that has recently become raised are also reasons to book a clinical assessment. If you are in any doubt, book a consultation.
How We Remove Moles
Surgical Excision
The mole and a small margin of surrounding skin are removed under local anaesthetic. The wound is closed with sutures and tissue sent for histopathology. Preferred where there is any clinical concern about the mole.
Shave Removal
For raised moles that sit above the skin surface. Shaved flush with the skin under local anaesthetic. No sutures are required in most cases.
Laser Removal
For certain flat, previously assessed benign moles. Does not produce a tissue sample, so not appropriate where there is any clinical concern about the mole’s nature.
